tversity mkv ps3
Why won’t my PS3 play a Blu Ray .mkv file AFTER I’ve converted it to avi?
I share between my PC and PS3 using Tversity. I downloaded a couple of Blu Ray files on my PC to watch on my TV through my PS3. The files I downloaded were .mkv and I know the PS3 doesn’t play those files. I got Prizm Video Converter to convert the .mkv files to avi which the PS3 does play and the Blu Ray files still won’t play and come up as unsupported data. I have converted other NON-Blu Ray files to avi before and they worked fine. The Blu Ray movies I downloaded will play fine through VLC player before and after conversion. My PC monitor is just smaller and doesn’t have a couch in front of it so I’d prefer to watch my movies through the PS3. Any ideas? Thanks.
First off Blu-Ray is a disc format, not a video type. I’m assuming you mean you got some HD video?
the codec the Avi is in may be wrong for the PS3.
I use Super to convert my .mkv’s. Its pretty simple to use and PS3 is in the drop down list of outputs. So choose that, n tell it the file to convert. I’ve had no issues with it, though some files may end up over 4GB’s, which cos of the Fat32 format the PS3 uses can be an issue.
