NOTEBOOK

EXTRA INCENTIVE: As much as it was played down, many of the Frisco Thunder veterans were pumped to be facing former coach Jon Loudemilk, who coached in Frisco last year.

"That was huge for us, not externally, but internally,'' said defensive lineman Nathan Jackson. "It was kind of nostalgic ... you always want to beat up on your brother."

SPOTTY SPOTS: Wide receiver Jason Deml was held scoreless for the first time in nine games Saturday, but if his stat line had had two more yards, two more touchdowns would be on his season total.

Deml was twice brought down inside the one-yard line on what could be best described as ... well ... debatable spots. What was even more frustrated is that no touchdown followed -- Frisco settled for a field goal in the first quarter and was stuffed on fourth down in the final quarter.

ROAD KILLS: The victory was Head Coach Troy Esprit's first road triumph as a head coach and snapped a four-game Frisco road losing streak  dating back to last season.

HOPOVAC HITS: K Dennis Hopovac connected on two field goals for the third straight game and fifth time this season with at least two.

UNFAMILIAR HOME: As much as the seven-game road swing has taxed the Thunder, the Stampede Express has also dealt with being away from its friendly confines seven straight games. This was only San Angelo's second game in the San Angelo Coliseum this season. The March 8 home opener against Louisiana  went off well, but an April 19 home game against Corpus Christi had to be moved to Angelo State University when the Coliseum was used as a shelter during the early days of the FLDS incident. San Angelo does finish its season with a four-game homestand.

28: That's the lowest offensive output in a Thunder victory. Previously low: 46 against Alaska (33) in the inaugural game.

FINALLY: Ricky Madison's 13 carries were a season high ... The defense now has six scoreless quarters to its credit this season, the offense now has two against it ... Don McGee's 45-yard interception return was the Thunder's defense second TD of the season ... Marcus Stiggers had one in the Corpus Christi victory.
